Match Summary in all three analysis Programs.
Each skill has a percentage
computed which is displayed in its column followed by a colon and a number indicating
the number of attempts. The number on the right side of the column is the
player's ranking on the team for that skill. Please note the the formulas
used in these percentages are different from those used for the traditional box
scores using the AVCA formula of kills minus errors divided by attempts. The
SPORTISTICS formula gives a value to each play through the rating system, then
divided by the number of attempts and dividing that by the top rating of the scale
being used. This results in a percentage that ranges from 0 to 100 instead
of -100 to +100 as the formula used by the AVCA stat manual. Therefore,
the SPORTISTICS percentages will be higher than what most would expect, but there
are no negative percentages and it is more differentiating between attackers rated
with the AVCA formula. In the NCAA and NAIA Box Score printouts, the proper
AVCA formula is used.
