Play-by-Play Report
The Play-by-Play report below is from
the 1995 Olympic Festival of the Men's Gold Medal Match. Only the first
and fourth which was the final game are presented here to conserve space and load
faster. At the end of the report are some abreviated stats that also show
on the computer screen as the match progresses. This is useful for broadcasters
or P.A. announcers who want this kind of data immediately. Each line of
a rally starting with the server and the termination of the play uses only four
key strokes which makes it easy for one person to do alone. The server is
the first key stroke, followed by the one making the terminal play of the rally,
and two key strokes to enter the code for what happened. These codes are
easily learned as they are letters representing the play. For example, the
quick keys for the first few plays are QN (Quick hits the ball into the
Net), KC (Kill on a Cross court shot), KB (Gets a Kill
off the Block), BQ (Gets a kill off a Back Quick hit), KC
(Kill on a Cross court shot), HN (Hits ball into the Net),
QH (Gets kill on Quick Hit), KB (Gets a Kill off the Block),
SN (Serve goes into the Net), and so on.
