Sire: PANDEMONIUM DESTINY IAHA 1A-217003, PtHA P-35466, 1st, IA AHA Half-Arabian Futurity, Grand and Reserve champion at halter, by PtHA Ch. JAY DEE x GAI CAROUSEL.Dam: KAMANA, AHRA 82395, Res. Ch. at halter as a yearling, (KAMIM+ x HANA GAMHURI).
Typey, nice head, square, balanced, good top line, friendly, halter quality prior to being kicked in the knee.
KARESS has produced nine foals to date, and is currently in foal to PANDEMONIUM DEBUT for May, 2005.
A few years ago, she developed the heaves, and drastically lost weight. With care, she wintered well the next winter, which was very mild, and did not seem bothered. Now, she has been treated with ventipulmin syrup, which the local vet with race horses said will sometimes cure heaves, and has no symptoms. Should any symptoms redevelop, she would need to be fed dust-free hay in winter, of top quality, or put on alfalfa pellets, as she was years ago successfully. All the last few winters, she has had good quality hay with no problem.
She has a calcium lump on on her right knee from an old kick injury. The ring of deposits around it causes her knee to be stiff. For $1000 or so, she can undergo an operation that the vet says "is not likely to result in any more mobility than what she currently has." He assures me that she is not in pain from it, and indeed, she does not curtail her actions as a horse in pain would. Although she is broke and cooperative to ride, with the greater stiffening, I do not recommend her being ridden. A shot of her cantering across the field in 2000 when she was still very heavy in foal may be seen on the mares 2000 photo album page.
Congratulations to Sue Perdock, IA, on her purchase of Pandemonium Karess in foal to Pandemonium Debut for a 2005 hopefully Pinto filly.
