Materials Selection

The librarians working with the advice of the board will select materials and develope the collection. It is not the intention to restrict the librarians in the selection of materials because of their subject matter or political affirmations of the author, but rather to urge and reccommend the librarians touse their best judgement as a professional in making selections, being guided by:

1. The mission and roles of the library
2. Reviews of materials in various trade publications.
3. Examinations of preview collections
4. Lists of recommended or award books.
5. Need for development of specific areas of the collection.
6. Past experience and familiarity with patronage.
7. Popular demand / patron requests.
8. Availablity of funds.
