CONNECT AND DISCONNECT WATER SERVICE
AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR A DEPOSIT TO BE MADE BY ALL PERSONS HEREAFTER USING CITY WATER; FIXING A CHARGE FOR DISCONTINUING WATER SERVICE AND FOR CONNECTING WATER SERVICE; AUTHORIZING THE CITY TO DISCONTINUE WATER SERVICE FOR FAILURE TO PAY WATER BILLS; REPEALING CONFLICTING ORDINANCES AND FIXING THE EFFECTIVE DATE OF THE ORDINANCE.
Be it ordained by the Board of Alderman of the city of Browning, Missouri as follows:
SECTION One. Any person desiring water service by the City of Browning, Missouri shall from now henceforth deposit with the city the sum of $10.00 to assure the payment of all water bills, which said sum shall be held by the city. In the event that any water bill shall become delinquent for a period of thirty days after the same is due, the city shall discontinue water service to such customer, and shall charge the remainder, if any, to such customer. Should such customer desire water service there after such customer shall pay to the city the sum of $5.00 for resumption of service and shall make the deposit of $10.00 here referred to. Nothing herein contained shall relieve the customer from paying for water service for the period that he shall have agreed to take the same, and this shall apply even though water service is discontinued for failure to pay the water bill. This provision shall also apply to all future connections with water service whether from present users from whom no deposit has been heretofore required or from an new customer.
SECTION Two. Any person desiring to have water service discontinued, after the period for which he has agreed to take water service may have service disconnected upon notice to the City and the payment of the sum of $5.00. When such person desires to be reconnected to the City Water system such customer shall pay to the city the sum of $5.00 for the labor of reconnecting such service.
SECTION Three. If any customer is to be away for a period of more than thirty days and less than six months, he may have service discontinued on payment of the sum of $1.00, and payment in full of all water bills. Service to be resumed by such customer on the payment of the payment of the sum of $1.00. PROVIDED HOWEVER that such service shall not be discontinued during the period for which such customer has agreed to take water service. If such customer shall be absent more than six months then he shall be considered a new customer and treated as such when again connected with the water system.
SECTION Four. All ordinances and parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby repealed.
SECTION Five. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage and approval.
