ORDINANCE



AN ORDINANCE APPOINTING A CITY TAX COLLECTOR UNDER

AUTHORITY OF ORDINANCE NO. 225, DESIGNATING THE DUTIES AND FIXING COMPENSATION.

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF ALDERMAN OF THE CITY OF BROWNING, MISSOURI AS FOLLOWS:


Section 1: The person appointed to act in the capacity of city tax collector, shall perform the duties thereof as directed by the Board of Alderman and required by the Ordinance of this city and statutes of this state.

Section 2: The City Collector, before entering upon the duties of the official's office, shall give a surety bond, in the sum of $7500.00, payable to the City of Browning, Missouri, to be approved by the Board of Alderman and paid for by the City of Browning. Conditioned that he/she shall honestly and faithfully discharge all duties of the office.

Section 3: All taxes not paid by January first of each year shall become delinquent and be charged a penalty of two percent per month or fractional part thereof, but not to exceed eighteen percent per year.

Section 4: The City Collector shall receive as his/her com pensation, ten percent of all revenues collected from the sale of city auto/truck licenses, and five percent of all real estate and personal property taxes or other revenues collected by him/her before the same become delinquent. For delinquent tax bills, the City Collector shall receive five percent for all real estate and Personal Property taxes which were due on January first of each year, plus five percent of the penalty charge per Section 3 above, which shall- be added to the delinquent tax bill.

Section 5: The City Collector shall annually,- at the first meeting of the Board of Alderman in January of each year, make a detailed report of all monies collected by him/her during the previous year, and the amount uncollected, and the names of the persons from whom he/she failed to collect.
Section 6: The City Collector shall, at the first meeting of the Board of Alderman in April of each year, or as soon thereafter as possible, make a list of delinquent taxes re maining due and uncollected.

A. The Board of Alderman shall examine the list care fully and instruct the City Collector as to any action con sidered necessary regarding collection of these taxes.

Section 7: All Ordinances or parts of Ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby repealed.

Section 8: This Ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage.
