ORDINANCE
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF BROWNING, MISSOURI, TO PROVIDE FOR THE
COLLECTION OF COURT COSTS TO BE USED IN THE TRAINING OF PEACE
OFFICERS.
WHEREAS, Section 590.140 RSMo permits municipalities to assess a fee up to $3.00 as costs in each court proceeding filed in any court in the state for violations of general criminal laws of the state, including infractions or violations of municipal ordinances, except non-moving traffic violations. These funds may be used only for the training of peace officers.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF BROWNING, MISSOURI, AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1: In addition to any fine or other costs that may be imposed by the municipal judge, there shall be assessed as costs in all cases, except those for non-moving traffic violations, the sum of $3.00 for the training of peace officers. This fee shall be transmitted monthly to the Treasurer of the city.
Section 2: An additional $1.00 shall be assessed as costs in all cases, except those for non-moving traffic violations. This fee shall be deposited with the Treasurer of the state in the Peace Officer Standards and Training Commission Fund, to be used statewide for training of peace officer.
Section 3: This ordinance shall become effective on December 31, 1996. READ 3 TIMES AND PASSED THIS 29th DAY OF DECEMBER, 1996.
