ORDINANCE NO. 13.
AN ORDINANCE IN RELATION TO WORKING PERSONS UPON THE STREETS
AND ALLEYS WHO HAVE BEEN CONVICTED OF MISDEMEANOR.
Be it ordained by the Board of Aldermen of the City of Browning, Missouri, as follows:
SECTION 1. That each and every person convicted of a misdemeanor in this city shall, if not otherwise discharged, according to law or ordinance, work upon the streets, alleys or other public words of the city, until the fine and costs of such conviction shall be paid.
SECTION 2. That for each day such person shall work under section one of this ordinance he shall be allowed one dollar and fifty cents per day, which shall be credited on the judgment against him and under which he is held.
SECTION 3. That eight hours shall constitute and be a days work under this ordinance, and when not at work any person so convicted shall remain in the city jail.
SECTION 4. That is any person convicted shall refuse to work as herein provided, he shall forthwith be confined in the city jail, where he shall be allowed fifty cents per day, and shall be confined in the city jail until the judgement is canceled at such rate.
SECTION 5. That any person set to work upon the streets, alleys or public works of the city, who shall escape or run away therefrom, shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor.
SECTION 6. This ordinance shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage and approval.
