ORDINANCE CALLING A SPECIAL ELECTION IN THE CITY OF BROWNING, MISSOURI, FOR THE PURPOSE OF SUBMITTING TO THE QUALIFIED VOTERS OF SAID CITY A PROPOSITION FOR INCREASING THE RATE OF TAXATION FOR GENERAL MUNICIPAL PURPOSES, THIRTY CENTS ON THE ONE HUNDRED DOLLARS ASSESSED VALUATION OF TAXABLE PROPERTY IN SAID CITY FOR A PERIOD OF FOUR YEARS, DESIGNATION THE TIME OF HOLDING SAID ELECTION, FIXING THE POLLING PLACES OF SAID ELECTION, APPOINTING THE JUDGES AND CLERKS TO CONDUCT SAID ELECTION, PRESCRIBING THE FORM OF BALLOT TO BE USED THEREAT, AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY CLERK TO GIVE NOTICE OF SAID ELECTION AND FIXING THE EFFECTIVE DATE OF THE ORDINANCE.
Be it ordained by the Board of Aldermen of the City of Browning, Missouri, as follows:
SECTION (1), That a special election be, and the same is, hereby ordered to be held in the city of browning, Missouri, on Thursday, May 20th, 1971, for the purpose of submitting to the qualified voters of said City the following proposition:
Proposition to increase the rate for taxation of the Cityof Browning, Missouri, for general municipal purposes fora period of four years by thirty cents on the one hundreddollars assessed valuation of all tangible property,real, personal, and mixed within the corporate limits ofsaid City of Browning, Missouri. This increase of thirtycents on the hundred dollars valuation is in addition tothe levy of seventy five cents on the one hundred dollarsassessed valuation authorized by law.
SECTION (2), That the City clerk of the City of Browning, Missouri, be, and he is, hereby authorized and directed to give notice of said election by causing to be published in the Browning Leader Record, a weekly newspaper printed and published in the City of Browning, Missouri, and for general circulation in said City, a notice of the time, place of holding, and purpose of said election. Said notice to be published once a week for three consecutive weeks, the first publication of said notice to be made at least twenty one days before, and the last publication to be within two weeks of, the date of said election. Said election shall be held and conducted and the result thereof shall be canvassed in all respects in conformity with the construction and laws of the State of Missouri, and in accordance with all ordinances adopted by the Board of Aldermen of the City of Browning, Missouri.
SECTION (3), That the ballots to be used at said election shall be substantially in the following form:

Shall the following be adopted:
Shall the tax levy of the City of Browning, Missouri, for general municipal purposes be increased for a period of four years by thirty cents on the one hundred dollars assessed valuation of all tangible property, real, personal, and mixed, within the corporate limits of the City of Browning, Missouri, this thirty cents increase in tax levy for general municipal purposes shall be in addition to the levy of seventy-five cents for general municipal purposes authorized by law.
( ) For thirty cent increase in tax levy on one hundred dollars assessed valuation for general municipal purposes for four years.
( ) Against thirty cent increase in tax levy on one hundred dollars assessed valuation for general municipal purposes for four years.
INSTRUCTION TO VOTERS:
Place an (x) in the square opposite the one for which you wish to vote:
SECTION (4) That at said election the qualified voters of said City shall vote at the following places:

SECTION (6), That the City Clerk is hereby directed to prepare a cause to be printed, ballot as herein provided, and to prepare or procure the necessary poll books and tally sheets to be used at said election, and shall cause the same to be delivered to the judges of said election.
SECTION (7), This ordinance shall be in fill force and effect from and after its passage and approval.
Read three times and passed by the Board of Aldermen of the City of Browning, Missouri, this now day of April, 1971.
