ORDINANCE NO. 12.
AN ORDINANCE IN RELATION TO CITY CLERK.
Be it ordained by the Board of Aldermen of the City of Browning, Missouri, as follows:
SECTION 1. That the duties of the City Clerk shall be to keep the minutes of the proceedings of the Board of Aldermen and properly and seasonably record the same in a book kept for that purpose. He shall be the custodian of the city seal, the original ordinances and resolutions of the Board, and all other records, books, papers and documents which may be committed to his charge; and it shall be his duty to see that the same are safely kept. He shall attest and affix the City Seal to all ordinances, drafts, commissions, warrants, orders and other instruments when required by law, ordinance or resolution or order of the Board of Aldermen.
SECTION 2. The City Clerk shall keep in a suitable book a complete and perfect record of all ordinances, which may be passed by the Board of Aldermen, which shall become laws, and a record of all resolutions and official acts of the Board. He shall keep a regular account against the City Marshal in a book kept for that purpose.
SECTION 3. The City Clerk shall, on application, issue all licenses provided for by ordinance, and deliver the same to the Collector, charging the amount thereof to the Collector, in his regular account, and shall keep in a suitable book, a record of all licenses issued by him. He shall receive a fee of not more than one dollar for each saloon and circus licence, and not more than fifty cents for other licenses issued and recorded by him; to be paid by the party applying for such licence.
SECTION 4. The City Clerk, upon delivery of the tax books, shall charge the City Collector with the full amount of taxes to be levied and collected; also, to charge the City Collector with all licenses of every kind to be collected, and report to the mayor any failure to deposit the collections as required by law and ordinance.
SECTION 5. The Clerk shall attest, seal and deliver all warrants drawn by the City Treasure by order of the Board of Aldermen; keep a complete record of the same, and report to the Board the amount of outstanding warrants, against the city when required by ordinance or resolution of the Board to do so. He shall receive for his services the sum of twenty dollars per year.
SECTION 6. This ordinance shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage and approval.
